Supporting Family Wellness After an Autism Diagnosis

An autism diagnosis can change the way a family understands everyday life.

It can bring new questions, new routines, new appointments and an entirely different way of looking at your child's needs — while parents are also trying to take care of themselves. FoodieMom approaches this journey from the perspective of family wellness, not autism treatment.

Why This Became Personal for Me

My son's developmental journey changed my understanding of health in ways I could never have anticipated.

As a mother, I began paying closer attention to nutrition, routines, emotional wellbeing, our home environment and the different professionals involved in our family's journey. I experienced firsthand how making changes in everyday life could influence our family's experience and, most importantly, our quality of life. This experience did not lead me to believe that there is one protocol or one approach that works for every child. Instead, it taught me to ask better questions, remain curious, work with professionals and look at health from a broader perspective.

What FoodieMom Does Not Do

FoodieMom does not diagnose, treat or cure autism. Health coaching is not a replacement for pediatric, medical, psychological, developmental or therapeutic care.

My role is to support families in exploring healthier lifestyle habits and creating practical routines that complement the care and guidance they receive from qualified healthcare and developmental professionals.

You Don't Have to Navigate Everything at Once

When your family enters a new chapter, it can feel overwhelming to know where to begin. You don't have to change everything at once. Sometimes the first step is simply understanding your family's current routines, identifying what is working and choosing one area where you would like additional support.
